What is ISO certification

               ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization.  ISO is an NGO ( Non Governmental Organization ) Which involves in developing internal standards such as ISO 9001 Quality management system, ISO 14001 Environmental management system, ISO 45001 Occupational health and safety management system, ISO 22000 Food safety management system, ISO 27001 Information Security management system. ISO is accepted by 165 countries worldwide. These standards are developed by the Respective technical committees and experts from all around the world and it is agreed upon by all the members of ISO before its release. ISO Certification is an voluntary certificate that can be acquired by an Organization from an accredited certification body. ISO or International Organization for certification develops the standards but It does not involve in certification of an organization directly. It is the job of a certification body to provide an ISO certificate.

               A valid ISO certificate is given by the organization when the certification body issuing the certificate is accredited. A proper accredited certification body conducts an two stage audit and awards the certificate for an 3 year validity subjected to surveillance audit and clearance of all the Non conformities effectively.

An accreditation body is like an regulatory authority for an certification body. An accreditation body audits a certification body as per the guidelines provided by ISO but does not directly involve in certification of an organization. The accreditation body validates the certification body and authorizes the certification body to issue an ISO certification for an organization under the permitted Management system

2) You certificate may be suspended / withdrawn

If the certificate provided by an certification body is suspended / withdrawn due to overdue of period of audit, it may be possible an certificate may not be listed. You may immediately contact an certification body immediately for conducting the audit.

How to deal if my valid certificate is not listed in Certification Body website or accreditation body website

1) Call and clarify with the your Certification body

It is better to clarify with the certification body rather than doing nothing. Write your certification body regarding the validity of certificate indicating the certificate number and they shall be clarifying you regarding the validity of it.

2) Write to the accreditation body

If the certification body does not respond you in time you can verify with the accreditation body for the reason behind not listing the certificate in the website

3)Write to IAF, if your accreditation body is a member of IAF

If your accreditation body is a member of IAF International Accreditation forum and the accreditation body / certification body does not respond to you on the validity of the certificate you can write to the IAF stating the validity of certificate along with the certificate number and the accreditation body

4) Writing and publishing in social media

If you further find the your certificate is not valid you can publish on the social media for awareness.
